We can never go back,
cliche but true.
I wonder if that's what the Garden was really about, an image encompassing the way the mind views the past. The way its hunger for knowledge catalyzes its exploration, leaving the known and safe far behind.
--------------------------------------------------------------
Its so strange that our culture views thoughts as somehow superior and more intelligent than emotions. We almost always exclude emotions when we speak of the intellect and intelligence. And yet what is an emotion?
I don't care what the DSM4 or the textbooks say, I have observed my own emotions and the emotions of others.I don't typically deal with absolutes, but when our understanding of phenomena are occluded by linguistic definitions, an absolute is a powerful way to clear away the illusions. An Emotion is ALWAYS, more intelligent than a thought. An Emotion never arrives thoughtlessly. Even a single Emotion contains within it a multitude of thoughts and information and other phenomena. A surge faster than light, faster than the eye can see, transferring information and igniting biological circuits. It is more upstream toward the origin of our consciousness than our own conscious mind is.
I am left handed and I see the world opposite to what I'm told. I'm not a conspiracy theorist, I'm a conspiracy realist, meaning, I view most things to be a conspiracy, even our perceptions. And so if even our most fundamental means of making sense of "the world" and experience are faulty, flawed, distracted, or intentionally deceived/deceiving, what good is it to try to make sense of or conceive anything?!
It seems like both Emotions and Thoughts act through us, we don't cause or have them. Cause and effect is a comforting lie and reality is far more complex. So many of us conceive of the world or the universe in our heads as if it existed in some little box. People who speak of reincarnation or other migrations of soul, simply imagine souls passing out of one box and back in again for eternity...
...But there is no "outside" or "inside".... there aren't even any sides.. an object only has a side or sides in relation to other objects or sides, but they dont actually exist, it a conceptual tool to help us make sense of things. See, even on the biological level we confuse the map with the territory. There are no sides, there is no box. All things flow from and into other things. Even our infallible science proclaims that in the equation of the universe, nothing is destroyed.
I wish we had built a world that valued the territory, not the map. A society that wasnt so obsessed with image, and instead valued substance.
