Roast the Golden Calf

 For years I had denounced the sword.

I vowed, that if I were to stay here,

that at the very least I would do my best to do no harm...

But now after a decade of accumulated scars and flaws,

my body and heart cry out,

pleading,

"NO MORE."

Beliefs need to be reviewed and reevaluated so that we can adjust to life as it is,

not how we want it to be, not matter how painful that difference may be.

Now don't be mistaken, there is power to harness from "how we want it to be"

but it is misplaced when in relation with belief.

Let beliefs be natural extensions of what can be seen, measured, and experienced- building atop empirical data, and when the data changes, pull out the tablecloth with focused intensity.
