Cast off

The first time I heard this cover was during Covid. It was my first time venturing out because businesses were closing and having massive sales.

It was like everything was in slow motion.

I had hope that we would learn important lessons from what took place then, but as I see similar things repeating, and being even more dire, it looks like that majority of us are not rising to the occasion.

That hope may be gone, but I will not let despair swallow me. I will hold no space for despair or anxiety, I will throw it to the sea, thanking them for all the lessons they taught me.

What is a man to do when he see the tides change and waves rise in rage? He tries to warn others of this dire stage, but they just laugh, dismiss, belittle, or disengage. It is a force beyond his power.. A force beyond any single person's power. He must cast off his need to rescue, learn to surf or swim, to find that secret current so that he is not destroyed a martyr, in the wake of the coming waves.
