Emotional Maturity, a practice of integrating timeless wisdom

 Emotional maturity,
a phrase that at any other time
would have made me
roll my eyes
Now shimmers so brightly,
I cannot glance aside.

Emotional maturity,
is the natural result,
of extending beyond yourself
the patience and understanding,
that your timeless self
bestows upon ignorant little you.

We do not blame children for being children.
And if we do,
it says more about us
than it says about any of the children:

What is (or isn't)
in our hearts and our heads,
our untended wounds...
The places,
for so long shamed,
they grew rampant and forgotten.

So even the passing fragrance 
of that in another,
brings down
all hellish projections.
